The study is open to all women between the ages of 18 and 40, who are in good health and not pregnant or planning a pregnancy in the next 9 months.

Cytomegalovirus, or CMV, is a leading cause of birth defects around the world. CMV is related to the viruses that cause chickenpox, herpes simplex, and mononucleosis. It is a common viral infection that usually goes unnoticed or only causes mild symptoms in most people. Once infected, the body retains the virus for life. But if a woman becomes infected with CMV while she is pregnant, she can pass the infection to her unborn baby. This can cause her child to suffer long-term disability due to birth defects, including hearing loss, or even death in very severe cases. Unfortunately, there is currently no approved vaccine to prevent CMV infection.

That’s why we need your help. We are conducting a CMV vaccine study in the Dallas area and are looking for volunteers to join us in our efforts to develop a vaccine to prevent the spread of this dangerous virus.
